Post referendum - clients'reactions

Post referendum - clients'reactions Image

We sent our post referendum reaction to our client base on Fri 25 June and received the following responses within 24 hours.  We decided to publish them to give everyone a flavour of the opinion out there.  So here they are, for better or for worse, and unedited.......

This could potentially move the Gibraltar property market into new dizzy heights.  As I see it, UK ex-pats will not find it as easy to purchase properties in Southern Europe.  This will / could lead to large numbers of UK citizens looking to relocate to a sunny climate with very little options as to where.

There is a certain irony that the removal of the Brexit overhang in Gibraltar might actually help attract HNWI's so long as the border remains open, this is now the key issue. Let's see what happens in the Spanish election.

******

On a personal basis, post Brexit, we are likely to pull out of Spain altogether and apply for residency in Gibraltar

Good advice, sit tight and let the dust settle and nerves stop jangling!

No surprise for me that the UK left with others to follow in the future.  You will see for myself nothing will change, maybe Spain closing the border so we will open a ferry boat, Gibraltar to Tangier tarifa  take a bit longer but we find a way  have a nice weekend .dont think to much nothing will change it

Can I book a first class place on the next inflatable out of here?

We agree and will be watching to see what happens – change often brings opportunities!

******

Couldn't agree more!  Short term it will likely be a rocky ride for a while but in the longer term l think it will provide a series of new opportunities which we should grasp & move forward!

Good email.  Stunned by the outcome.

The border has to stay open until October 2018 at the earliest (assuming 2 years of negotiations from the election of a new Prime Minister), I think it highly unlikely that in this interconnected world the Spaniards will close it again, we may however get queues.  Let's see what the Spanish election brings....

Thank you so much Mike for keeping informed the Gibraltarians who live abroad. Good luck and I believe very much in Gibraltar's potential!!!!!

******

Good, strong piece of kit, thank you.

Yup, keep calm....the fat lady has not sung yet!  Too many knee jerk reactions.  We need to wait till the dust settles so we can see clearly how the disengagement will be taking its gradual path. We also have yet to see how other member states (& their own internal oppositions) react to this news. We live in interesting times!

Good piece!

What must not be overlooked were the long term plans of this corrupt, unaccountable, communist block. Their long term plan was to destroy sovereignty of Nation States, replacing it with Regions and have, their own army.  Allegedly in the last Treaty (of Lisbon) in the year 2017 they would have taken control our army and police force. Just imagine the situation when there is an amalgamated EU Army controlled by the French, which was on the cards, and Gibraltar becomes a region absorbed within Andalucia with EU Spanish troops based in Gibraltar!  A narrow escape I would say.

Thanks for this, I agree that Gibraltar has gone through many sieges, it has always reinvented itself, panic is our worst enemy, it’s great of you to be reassuring and positive.
